Couple of ridiculous posts knocking the doctors strike. Vexed is fooled by the title ‘Junior’ slagging them off with the quote ‘the youth of today…’ Don’t be misled - most are titled ‘Junior’ following years and years of training. They are not kids, ffs.
The one who mentioned going to Australia is only saying that because the pay and conditions there are so much better. Can’t blame her.
I suppose you knockers have Bupa, and get seen by doctors who themselves were trained through the public system, ie tax payers money, and then flip over to the private where they earn more.
Our doctors and nurses are vastly underpaid in this country and criminally overworked. Their pay demands are fully justified due to falling behind following years of cuts due to austerity and starving the public sector.
Some of you seem happy to witness this race to the bottom and to see all our institutions crumble and criticise when certain sectors - rail network, teachers, health -
workers - fight for the right for fair pay and decent working conditions.
You surely know this. What’s your problem? What kind of country do you want yourself and your kids to live in?

While workload and waiting lists are at record highs, junior doctors' pay has been cut by more than a quarter since 2008.

With benefits , don’t be fooled by the £14 per hour that the unions are putting out .

I know how much they get paid, Starting on £32k, rising to £40-something when they specialise. They can go up to 60 plus - this following years of being in the profession and years of training. The average, though, is way down in the £30/40K region. What else do you want to ask me?
For the level of responsibility they have, and most having to live in expensive urban areas, that’s insulting. Where do you place your value on a profession that can save your life?

Meanwhile,, I suppose you’re backing Coufal to get his raise from earning £30k a WEEK. And he’s one of the lowest earners of the first team. You have some warped values, mate, that you can get yourself steamed up by doctors’ pay. and post an ignorant, useless comment that they should all be sacked.

They are not allowed to work unsupervised until fully trained, when they have completed their training then they should receive a decent salary until then they are only apprentices , no different to electrician, carpenters plumbers etc . But they took the job on knowing full well what the hours and wages were . Just think of the thousands of people that have had the operations cancelled and the knock on affect this strike will have on NHS , don’t forget the very large percentage of them that feck off to the private sector or abroad when they are fully trained by the tax payers.

It takes on average 10 years for a Junior Doctor to complete training, building trades between 2 and 4 years.

I know what I'll do. I'll train to do something for loads of years then do it for a couple of years and then I'll decide that the job doesn't pay enough money and go on strike endlessly putting lives at risk.
